Cancer the Bully-
Cancer thrives on your fear of it.
Since beating the hell out of breast cancer in 2003, I have been on a quest to spread the good word about that usurper. I am on a mission to educate, motivate, inspire, and empower women against the spread of breast cancer.
Although women of color are less likely to get cancer, sadly, we are more likely to die because of it. It doesn't make any sense to me. I want women to know that there are non-profit organizations that offer free resources to the un-insured and the under-insured. Lots of folks don't realize that they can get a mammogram for free if they are not employed. I am here to let you know that you can.
I encourage women to be proactive with their health, by doing their monthly breast self-exams and if over 40, to get a yearly mammogram. If cancer is in the family genes the ACS advises women to start mammograms at 35. I inform folks about the medical facts about cancer but most importantly, I inform them about their right to stand firm against this horrible disease. Women must stay mentally and spiritually strong in their resolve to heal mind, body, and spirit.
